C-Bench, University of Chicago, 1920s.
From 1903 to 1960 the C Bench was reserved for varsity athletes, and is now a common place for all students to sit between classes, or chalk up advertisements for their favorite club!
Well ladies and gents, we have the answer for you: learn to dance. Any type of dance- really. UChicago offers over twenty clubs dedicated to the art of specific dance forms— many that teach dance throughout the year. Whether you are looking for a one time event, or weekly classes, you’ll find it in Hyde Park.

Here are a few links to get your feet tapping:
Phinix Dance Crew for the hip hop star in all of us.
Chicago Swing Dance Society for those among us who are true Chicagoans at heart.
Folk Arts Community for diverse monthly dances, a great way to engage in new cultures.
Argentine Tango Club for… well being awesome.
Check out our RSO page for more ideas and different ways to get involved!
The only problem with learning how to dance: choosing which date to go on this Saturday night. At least one guy in the photo above needs a partner— why not go with him?
Now that’s one way to bundle up. UChicago students stand on the sidewalk with their animals and amazing hats, pre 1920.
