Studying abroad gave me an opportunity to learn in a much more hands-on, interactive way. It offered space to explore on my own while still providing a secure place where I could catch my breath and feel the familiarity of home. The mix of site visits and class time really made the history and culture come alive.

Better Know a Minor, Part Three: Human Rights
Human Rights are one of the modern fundamental theories of ethics, and this class takes a interdisciplinary approach to examining the history of the theory, as well as the institutions and policies that are in place to protect human rights.
Most Timely Class: History of Humanitarian Intervention. This class problematizes the idea of intervention, by posing questions about its role in imperialism, but also recognizing the basic moral dilemma of letting atrocities happen. This class may not have a lot of answers, but there will be a lot of material that raises questions.
Choice Professor: Mark Phillip Bradley, Bernadotte E. Schmitt Professor of International History and the College; Chair, Committee on International Relations. Professor Bradley served on the faculty board of the Pozen Family Center for Human Rights, and studies human rights in the post-colonial era. He has authored several books on Vietnam and teaches part of the Human Rights civilizations core sequence in Vienna
