Polar Bear Photobomb
So…when we were hanging out with UChicagoan Anamaria Hernandez last summer, and finding out about her Metcalf internship at the Lincoln Park Zoo, something awesome happened. That something was a polar bear.

Kuviasungnerk! Kangeiko! Kuvia, as we know it. Don’t worry— you don’t need to be able to spell the title to participate.Kuvia is our winter festival to the sun held during the second week of winter quarter. Students who participate in Kuvia head to Henry Crown Gymnasium each day during second week to do calisthenics with various university figures (for example: Dean Jean Treese, who according to an issue of the Maroon, selected the name Kuvia due to its relation to the Inuit for “pursuit of happiness”). At the end of the week, students walk to the point and perform sun salutes as the sun is rising. If a student attends each day of Kuvia, that student gets a commemorative Kuvia shirt—a coveted piece of UChicago apparel featuring a new theme every year. The only catch? Kuvia starts every morning at 6am.
